Jewellery Care & Maintenance

Jewellery Care & Maintenance

Fultons is a family-run business which has been crafting finely-wrought jewellery for over 40 years. Brian Fulton began designing and making jewellery in Manchester in 1982 whilst at college and relocated to the Lake District in 2004 to be further inspired by the spectacular surrounding scenery. Threlkeld near Keswick was Fultons’ first Lake District home until we moved to our present location just off Bell Close car park, Keswick in 2017.

Professional Service

At Fultons we recommend that you have your jewellery checked regularly for any signs of wear and also any damage. An annual check can help to both reassure and spot issues early to offer a remedy.  We offer a full professional repair service on site, here at our Keswick workshop. From resizing rings to re-joining chains and replacing lost gemstones. All repairs are carried out to the highest professional standards.

Clean and Polish

Cleaning with an old, soft toothbrush and warm soapy water can revive most nonporous items. Pearls, amber, turquoise and other porous and delicate items will need a little more TLC. Bring them into our Keswick workshop for a professional check, clean and polish - it will bring your jewellery's sparkle back!

Regular Checks

Gemstones vary so much in their durability and hardness (resistance to damage). Diamonds are the hardest, known natural substance, but can be scratched or chipped if knocked at the wrong angle. Regular checks, combined with a clean and polish will keep your diamonds and gemset jewellery sparkling and looking beautiful.

What to Avoid

We recommend removing jewellery for all the household chores and avoid chemicals and detergents as these can damage and leave residues. Perfume and cosmetics can also leave your jewellery looking less than it's best, so along with the DIY, sports and gardening, remove your jewellery to keep it looking beautiful.

Professionally Cleaned

All our repairs, resizing, polishing and refinishing is carried out here in our Keswick workshop so you can be assured it will not leave the premises (excludes pearl and bead rethreading which is completed by a highly esteemed colleague off site and returned usually within 10 days).

We’ll notify you of any unexpected repair recommendations before any work is started. All your jewellery items are fully insured whilst in our care.
